| Background: In April of 2007 the disbanded American Legion donated to the Friends of Oakville Timberland Library their meeting hall. This hall was built by local citizens with locally donated materials and for years was used by the Legion for their meetings and functions as well as rented by the public for receptions, dances and funerals. Restoration and Fundraising: Since taking posession the Friends have enjoyed hosting several functions as well as continued with the restoration of the building. It is a slow process with lack of finances and volunteers but has met with much interest from the public, many who remember coming to functions in prior years. The ultimate goal of the Friends of Oakville Timberland Library is to restore the building so it can become a community hall and then proceeds will go towards the new library for the City of Oakville.
